This position will work with classroom teachers in a K-5 setting.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary or Middle School Education
Valid IL teaching certificate (Type 03 or 09)
Experience teaching math to elementary students or have middle school math endoresement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in continuous professional learning to strengthen knowledge and expertise in mathematics curriculum, instructional practices, coaching strategies, assessment, and current research-based practices in math education.
  2. Plan, facilitate, and support ongoing professional development for district math staff focused on curriculum resources, instructional practices, assessment, intervention, and high quality math instruction.
  3. Coordinate math assessments and progress monitoring.
  4. Assist with the delivery of mathematics-related instruction tied to the District Curriculum Standards.
  5. Model research-based best practice instructional strategies in the classroom.
  6. Collaborate effectively with staff, sharing expert content and instructional knowledge and resources while demonstrating creativity, flexibility, and responsiveness.
  7. Support teachers in implementing and differentiating integrated units and in rubric assessment development in order to meet the needs of our students.
  8. Orient beginning teachers to the philosophy, procedures, and materials for the district math program.
  9. Maintain weekly collaboration schedule with grade level teachers, building principals, and district level administration to improve mathematics instruction across the curriculum.
  10. Aggregate and analyze data, diagnose instructional needs and identify research-based instructional strategies teachers can use in the classroom.
  11. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and share parent-friendly math resources, communication, and learning opportunities that strengthen family understanding and support of student math achievement.
  12. Initiate regular and ongoing contact with all math teachers, and create and maintain an environment of trust and respect.
  13. Observe teachers during their math instruction in an effort to provide feedback and coaching for the classroom teacher in mathematics instruction.
  14. Consult with building and district level administrators on a regular basis regarding the consistency of program implementation by grade level.
  15. Represent the District in a positive, honest way; interacting with all colleagues, parents and students with respect and integrity.
  16. Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the building administrator or superintendent.
