Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Division: Aggregates

Job Summary: Under the direction of the foreman, the heavy equipment operator is responsible to operate heavy equipment during assigned shift in an efficient and safe manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.

  • Inspect, maintain, and operate equipment, designated during assigned shift, in a safe and proper way in order to avoid accidents or undue maintenance or repair work.

  • Operate Equipment such as Loaders, Dozers, track hoes and other heavy equipment as assigned.

  • Dozer operation includes ripping, blending, and pushing material to crusher, stripping clay and topsoil, and slope banks.

  • Loader operation includes feeding hoppers, crushing plants, portable plants, stockpile and load trucks in efficient and productive manner.

  • Maintain insurable driving record.

  • Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • 2 years of related working experience.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Sitting: 85% of the time.

  • Standing: 15% of the time and may occasionally walk to access the machinery/equipment.

  • Driving: 85% of the time.

  • Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and/or carry 0 - 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. May occasionally lift items over their head.

  • Physical Movement: May frequently push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, grab, and reach.

  • Speaking / Listening: Must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervision, follow instructions, and understand safety requirements.

  • Working Conditions: Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions while being exposed to high levels of noise, grease, and dust associated with construction project. Regularly works near other heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Attention and commitment to safety

  • Ability to move at least 50 pounds
