Sr Systems Engineer – Warehousing and Parcel Solutions

Overview
Our client is an international multi-billion dollar leader in the design and manufacture of intralogistics systems for conveying, loading, palletizing, packaging, sortation, and distribution. Throughout the industry, our client has a strong brand and reputation for quality and innovative products. Due to their growth in North America, they are seeking a Sr Systems Engineer (SME) to be a part of their solutions and sales organization.
Key experience will include material handling equipment such as conveyance and/or high speed sortation.
Their Spec:
The Systems Engineer is a multifaceted role requiring an in-depth understanding of sortation products and applications. This position is responsible for analyzing customer requirements, developing innovative solutions, estimating costs, overseeing the development of layouts using 2D and 3D CAD and delivering customer proposals. Additionally, the Systems Engineer acting in the capacity of subject matter expert, collaborates with Sales, Engineering, and Software/Controls to ensure the successful design of solutions that address customer requirements. The Systems Engineer is also responsible for participating in and leading client meetings, calls and workshops serving in the capacity of a technical expert.
Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Become an expert in Logistics products, solutions and applications.
  • Lead and engage in initiatives that require expertise to address customer requirements through innovative solutions.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in logistic systems and supply chain management.
Requirements Analysis and Solution Development:
  • Understand customer requirements and business objectives and recommend appropriate products and solutions to meet their needs.
  • Analyze customer requirements to identify system design needs.
  • Develop innovative solutions using 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Customize and configure products to meet customer-specific requirements, including developing prototypes, conducting feasibility studies, and performing testing and validation.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Software/Controls departments to design and develop effective system solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (acting as a subject matter expert) for customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales consulting on technical topics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Software, Controls, Project Management, and Operations to ensure successful project implementation and delivery.
Cost Estimation and Vendor Management:
  • Develop and estimate cost associated with system design and solutions.
  • Coordinate in developing RFPs and manage vendor responses to RFPs.
  • Act as single point of contact to clarify technical scope for internal and external teams.
Technical Documentation:
  • Produce technical documents, including proposals, process flows, user manuals, and application notes, to support customers in the use and implementation of our products and solutions.
Process Development:
  • Develop tools and assist in processes development as needed.
  • Understand, follow and implement company processes
Client Engagement:
  • Participate, lead and coordinate client meetings, workshops and calls as necessary.
  • Act as the subject matter expert providing technical support as and when required
Sales Support:
  • Coordinate with Sales, Systems Engineering, Operations and Finance to handover orders.
  • Support sales team members with techno-commercial expertise as required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 4-6 years of experience in systems engineering, technical sales or product engineering; preferably in convey and sortation solutions.
  • High motivation, drive and initiative to get things done with little to no supervision.
  • Team player and ability to work well with large team setups including internation cultures.
  • Strong time management, organization and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High computer literacy in MS Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling with preferred experience in AutoCAD and SolidEdge.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Active listening for customer satisfaction and technical insight
  • Preferred experience automated systems, and MS Excel/VBA programming
  • Ability to set and meet goals, care for others, and work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to travel as per business needs. Estimated travel is 15-20% on average.
