Mechanical Designer Intern
Location: Conyers, GA / Remote or Hybrid (Multiple Raymond Offices)

Our Mechanical Engineering group works on a wide range of building projects, designing HVAC, plumbing, and building systems that support commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. We are committed to developing future engineers by providing hands-on experience and mentorship within a collaborative environment.
Position Summary:
Raymond is seeking a Mechanical Designer Intern to support our Mechanical Engineering team with design, drafting, and project support tasks. This role offers valuable exposure to the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
The Mechanical Designer Intern will assist engineers with developing design drawings, performing technical calculations, supporting field work, and preparing project documentation under the supervision of experienced mechanical engineers.
This position is well suited for students or early learners interested in mechanical engineering, building systems design, and gaining practical experience in an engineering consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering amp; Technical Support
  • Assist mechanical engineers with research, design tasks, and technical project support
  • Support the preparation of engineering drawings, schematics, and design documentation
  • Assist with calculations related to building mechanical systems
  • Maintain organized documentation of design calculations, drawings, and project information
Design amp; Drafting
  • Assist with developing mechanical system drawings including HVAC and plumbing layouts
  • Support drafting and modeling activities using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Contribute to the preparation of project documentation and technical reports
Field amp; Project Support
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and data collection
  • Assist with construction-related services and field observations when required
  • Prepare site visit reports documenting field findings
Team Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and project teams to support project delivery
  • Communicate design results and progress updates clearly with team members
  • Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies
Qualifications
  • Junior in high school or currently enrolled in an engineering program
  • Interest in mechanical engineering and building systems design
  • Strong math and science skills
