The College of Engineering is seeking a graduate intern in the College of Engineering, this candidate will work closely with the Community Engagement team to coordinate programming. The intern will be responsible for working with the team to plan and implement activities that contribute to community building in the College of Engineering
Responsibilities:
  • Help facilitate and implement an intergroup dialogue program course for graduate students.
  • Assist with PITA Fellowship logistics, including faculty and student recruitment, application review, faculty-student matching, stakeholder communication, and ongoing student support
  • Coordinate professional development programming for graduate students, including writing sessions, etc.
  • Work in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Outreach to support the larger goals of the College of Engineering Community Engagement and Outreach.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of programming for primarily students.
  • Establish a connection with engineering students as a representative of the office.
  • Track interaction with students and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
  • The candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Outreach, but also work extensively to support the work of the College-wide Community Engagement Committee.
  • The candidate will be expected to attend weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Candidate will have the opportunity to participate in professional development activities.
  • The candidate will provide guidance, skill development and programming support to students.

WORK HOURS
Intern will work 15-20 hours per week. The candidate will work with the Associate Dean for Community Engagement to establish an acceptable work schedule. Occasional evening and/or weekend availability is expected.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge and/or experience developing programming to promote an inclusive culture.
  • Collaborative professional with experience working on college campus in academic and/or student services environments.
  • Prior experience as a student leader or a professional who supports student leaders is preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
