Job description

The Credit Department Intern works closely with Credit Analysts, Commercial Lenders, and the Chief Credit Officer and is responsible for assisting the department with activities related to underwriting and coordinating the closing of Commercial and SBA loans in compliance with the Banks lending policies and procedures, monitoring the Banks existing loan portfolio, preparing monthly reports for senior management team, and ensuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

The Credit Department Intern will gain a working knowledge of and be responsible for:

  • Completing certain aspects of the credit training program
  • Understanding general accounting principles and concepts
  • Spreading and analyzing historical and projected financials
  • Identifying borrower credit, industry and market risks
  • Identifying and analyzing sources of repayment and collateral
  • Preparing sensitivity analysis and financial covenant models
  • Monitoring and verifying borrowing base reports
  • Maintaining borrower credit files, credit applications and financial tracking logs
  • Loan Structure - working capital, equipment, real estate, and SBA loan structures
  • Loan Documentation

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Major in business administration, finance, or accounting
  • Will possess 9-12 hours of accounting college credit hours with a B or better upon graduation
  • Strong personal motivation and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
