Our Internship Experience:

The Maintenance Internship Program is a paid, hands-on learning experience designed to provide exposure to multifamily property maintenance operations. Interns will work alongside experienced maintenance professionals and community leaders while gaining practical experience in building systems, preventive maintenance, apartment turns, resident service requests, and property operations.

Interns will be mentored by experienced maintenance and property management leaders and may have opportunities to participate in real-world projects that support community operations and resident satisfaction. This internship is ideal for students or individuals interested in facilities management, property maintenance, construction management, skilled trades, or real estate operations.


Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the assigned Mentor, the Maintenance Intern will support the day-to-day maintenance operations of a multifamily community while learning industry best practices and technical skills.

The internship provides hands-on exposure to apartment maintenance, property operations, resident service, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance programs. Interns will work side-by-side with maintenance professionals to help create a safe, attractive, and welcoming living environment for residents while developing practical skills that can support future careers in maintenance, facilities management, construction, or property management.

We are seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a positive attitude who are eager to learn and contribute to a growing organization committed to exceptional customer service and community improvement.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist maintenance team members with routine repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support apartment make-ready and unit turn processes, including painting, cleaning, drywall repairs, and general maintenance.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, and carpentry tasks under supervision.
  • Help maintain community amenities, common areas, grounds, and building exteriors.
  • Participate in property inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance projects and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Support inventory management, organization of maintenance shops, and supply tracking.
  • Help prepare tools, equipment, and materials for maintenance projects.
  • Learn and follow company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with resident service requests while providing excellent customer service.
  • Support administrative tasks related to maintenance operations, including work order updates and documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional maintenance and operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a trade school, technical program, community college, or accredited college/university preferred.
  • Coursework in facilities management, construction management, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, engineering, real estate, or related fields is a plus.

Professional Experience

  • Previous maintenance, construction, landscaping, facilities, customer service, or related experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience using hand tools and basic maintenance equipment is helpful.

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
  • Ability to learn property management and maintenance software systems.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, reach, and lift.

  • Ability to safely use tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment with training and supervision.

Attendance & Schedule

  • Full-time schedule required for the duration of the internship (June 15, 2026 – October 31, 2026).
  • Consistent attendance and reliability are essential.
  • Some flexibility in hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, may be required to support community operations.

Special Requirements

Driver's License & Background Check

Candidates must successfully pass a driver's license background check as part of the hiring process to ensure that all employees who may operate a company vehicle meet necessary safety standards.

As an authorized driver of a company vehicle, you are required to maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) throughout your employment. This includes ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance with company safety and insurance standards.
