The Opportunity
As a co-op/intern in our Annuity Finance organization, you will be exposed to meaningful work and experience the actual day-to-day work that our experienced accounting professionals perform. You will be responsible for a small book of business where you will perform all the necessary accounting functions from posting journal entries to analysis and everything in between! As a co-op/intern, you will have a task list that exposes you to core accounting work and you will have the opportunity to learn from a collaborative group of leaders across the finance organization.We offer flexible work arrangements with defined days in our downtown Cincinnati office and working remotely from home.

Job Responsibilities

  • Record a variety of monthly journal entries and review trial balances in the general ledger system.
  • Prepare various reports, schedules, and financial statements for use by management.
  • Maintain up to date documentation of processes and tasks.
  • Prepare and assist with analysis of statutory and GAAP financial statements.
  • Develop basic understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting guidance for insurance industry.
  • Compose analytical schedules and gather information for independent auditors.
  • Perform a variety of routine, clerical type accounting activities in support of the department.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.
  • Special projects as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Entering at least 2nd year of higher education pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills.
  • Good time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Able to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
