Allyn International is currently looking for a Global Trade Compliance Intern to join our team in Scotia, NY! Allyn is a privately held professional services firm established in 1992. What you'll do?
The Global Trade Compliance Intern will work alongside Specialists and Leads managing our software projects (writing and submitting requests for new features or bug fixes, testing fixes, following up with feedback, creating new user logins, assisting users when problems arise, etc.). This is for Allyn's own software, ALA; the trade compliance piece is called CIMS.
Position Details:
Location: Scotia, NY
Position/Classification: Non-Exempt (hourly), Internship
Compensation: $17.00 per hour
Hours of Work: Regular business hours, Monday-Friday

Required Experience and Education:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's or equivalent college degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Customer Service/ Conflict Resolution preferred

Items you'll support and work on:
  • Ensure compliant, efficient, and cost-effective entry of goods.
  • Monitor broker performance against clearly defined Key Performance Indicator's (KPI's)
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas: Anti-boycott/Restrictive Trade Practices, Export Control Classification, Export Licensing, Compliance training, Export/ Import Documentation, Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Duty Drawback, Reconciliation, Country of Origin Marking, Country of Origin Determination, Recordkeeping, Preference Programs/Free Trade Agreement and Customs Clearance
  • Assigning correct product tariff classification
  • Assist in maintaining compliance programs and processes
  • Perform audits to ensure import / export compliance
  • Identify cost savings opportunities from client data
  • Collecting Client, Entry, Internal, and Broker Data
  • Perform Data analysis to identify, trends, savings, areas of opportunity, non-compliance, etc. and translate findings into presentations.
