Position Summary
The Industrial Engineer Intern will support process analysis, data-driven problem solving, and layout optimization projects within the NADC. This internship provides exposure to applying industrial engineering principles in a high-volume distribution environment with an emphasis on efficiency, ergonomics, and continuous improvement. Interns will contribute to real improvement initiatives while gaining valuable technical and analytical experience.
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Anticipated End Date: December 2026
Location: Olive Branch, MS
Weekly Hours: 30 hours per week
Principal Responsibilities
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret time study, labor usage, and workflow data.
  • Assist in developing labor standards, productivity benchmarks, and capacity models.
  • Support warehouse layout and material flow projects (AutoCAD exposure a plus).
  • Contribute to Kaizen and Lean projects, helping reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers to trial and validate process changes.
  • Present a final project on an assigned operational improvement opportunity.

Education / Experience Requirements
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in Lean, Six Sigma, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in Excel; exposure to AutoCAD, simulation tools, or WMS preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
  • Exposure to data collection and analysis in an operational setting.
  • Hands-on experience with process mapping and workflow improvement.
  • Participation in real-world Lean/Kaizen initiatives.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $20.00 and $25.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
