Job description

Title: Test Engineer
Location: Shelby, NC 28150
Pay Rate: $65–$75/hour
Hours: Monday–Friday | Standard Business Hours
Hire Type: 6-Month Contract

Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in Shelby, NC to hire a Sr. Test Engineer for a long term contract opportunity. This role will support aerospace testing programs focused on electromechanical actuation and door drive systems used in military aircraft applications. The team is looking for someone with strong aerospace testing experience who can support qualification testing, documentation, outside lab coordination, and test readiness activities as they prepare for a major testing phase later this year.

Responsibilities:
  • Support aerospace qualification and environmental testing activities
  • Coordinate testing with outside laboratories and vendors
  • Update and maintain test plans, procedures, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with test readiness reviews and qualification testing efforts
  • Work closely with the Senior Test Engineer and cross functional engineering teams
  • Review designs and support testing activities through procurement and execution phases
  • Help supervise testing activities at outside facilities when needed
  • Support multiple aerospace product lines and high volume part number activity
Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen due to ITAR requirements
  • Experience with DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810 testing standards required
  • Aerospace testing experience required
  • Experience supporting qualification testing and test readiness reviews
  • Strong documentation and technical communication skills
  • Ability to work onsite in Shelby, NC
Preferred Skills:
  • EMI/electronics testing experience
  • LabVIEW experience
  • Experience working with electromechanical or aerospace actuation systems
