Job description

The primary objectives of the Administrator in Training (AIT) are to gain knowledge and expertise in the field of long-term care administration and to successfully complete national exam to obtain a Nursing Home Administrators license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In the process of accomplishing this, the AIT will also contribute substantially to the mission and objectives of Pinnacle Living in caring for the residents in the community to which they are assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Bachelor's degree in health care administration or related field required.
  2. Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Virginia. A history of serious moving violations may be cause for exclusion or termination from the AIT Program.

Essential Job Duties
  1. Study and master the skills within the four (4) domains of practice needed to fulfill the necessary hours required for the 1 year program completion (maximum 2000, minimum 320):
    1. Care, services, and supports
    2. Operations
    3. Environment
    4. Leadership and Strategy
  2. Rotate through the modules outlined in the AIT Program Manual spending the required number of hours in each area:
    1. Administration
    2. Human Resources
    3. Nursing/Health Care Services
    4. Business Office/Financial Management
    5. Dietary
    6. Rehabilitation
    7. Medical/Resident Records
    8. Activities
    9. Social Services/Admissions
    10. Housekeeping/Laundry
    11. Environmental Management/Maintenance
  3. Complete and submit the AIT Monthly Reports to the Virginia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators.
  4. Complete the Documentation of Completion Form for the Virgnia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators.
  5. Prepare for and pass the NAB NHA Examination (NAB NHA & CORE)
  6. Successfully complete projects assigned by the preceptor designed to strengthen the AIT's understanding of the long-term care field and aid the mission of Pinnacle Living.
  7. May be asked to fill interim community director roles during key vacancies.
  8. May be assigned to a specific community and/or multiple communities in order to gain maximum exposure to senior living operations. Community assignment will be made based upon AIT's experience and knowledge level.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Understanding of basic business administration and health care administration
  2. Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions using the English language.
  3. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  4. Attention to detail and high regard for confidentiality.
  5. Ability to work in a self-directed manner following outlines and goals provided by the preceptor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. Ability to travel through the community on various surfaces and levels.
  2. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  3. Ability to bend, stop, push, and pull.
  4. Universal staffing, holiday, inclement weather, and a flexible work schedule are required.
  5. Exposure to the sights, sounds and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
