Gate & Access Control Technician โ€“ Full time
Location: Greater Indianapolis

Position Overview

A growing field service and facility solutions company is seeking a skilled and dependable Gate & Access Control Technician to join its operations team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience in access control systems, automatic gates, low-voltage systems, or commercial maintenance.

The technician will work directly at commercial and self-storage facilities, performing installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated entry and security systems. The position requires strong technical aptitude, independent field work capability, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automatic gate systems and access control equipment
  • Install, replace, and maintain keypads, sensors, controllers, and related hardware
  • Perform preventive maintenance on gate operators, security systems, and facility equipment
  • Work with low-voltage wiring and electrical components
  • Service camera systems, DVRs, and surveillance-related equipment
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and update work orders through mobile service software
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch teams, customers, and property managers
  • Organize daily field assignments and manage service schedules efficiently
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and according to company standards

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in access control systems, gate systems, security systems, low-voltage wiring, or related field service work
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently in field environments
  • Comfortable using mobile devices, apps, and service management software
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned service region

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automatic gate operators and automation systems
  • Familiarity with DoorKing, LiftMaster, PTI, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of camera systems and DVR installation/troubleshooting
  • Commercial maintenance or facility service experience
  • Welding, fabrication, or metalwork experience is an advantage
