Job description

Job Title: Access Control Technician I / II - Data Center | South Bend, IN
Location: South Bend, IN
Shift: Day Shift (exact time may flex based on project needs)
Start Date: Immediate
We are hiring Access Control Technicians (Tech I and Tech II level) to support the deployment of security and low voltage systems on a data center project in South Bend, IN. Work will include a mix of new construction builds and installations within existing, operational data center environments at this site.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing, mission-critical data center program with a team that values attitude, communication, and work ethic just as much as technical skill. If you have access control or low voltage experience and are looking for a stable project with room to grow into Tech III and lead roles - we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Installing, terminating, and wiring access control systems and associated hardware
  • Pulling, routing, labeling, and dressing low voltage and structured cabling
  • Installing and wiring security devices including:
    • Door contacts and request-to-exit devices
    • Motion detectors and sounder/siren devices
    • Electric strikes and magnetic locks
    • Card readers and optical/security devices
  • Wiring and terminating access control panels, controllers, and boards
  • Installing and supporting structured cabling infrastructure and MDF/head-end room buildouts
  • Mounting, installing, and wiring IP cameras throughout the facility
  • Assisting with IP address assignment and basic camera configuration
  • Supporting firmware upgrades and downgrades on security devices as required
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and verifying proper operation of installed systems
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, riser drawings, and installation plans
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and professional installations
  • Working within both active new-construction areas and existing, occupied data center environments, following all applicable safety and access protocols
  • Coordinating with project leads, PMs, and general contractors
  • Following site-specific requirements, safety protocols, and security procedures

What You Need
  • Experience in access control, security device installation, structured cabling, or low voltage systems
  • Ability to pass all required site onboarding and background/security requirements
  • Ability to work safely on active construction sites and within live data center environments
  • Reliable transportation to the job site in South Bend, IN
  • Standard low voltage hand tools
  • Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an Access Control Technician I or II, or equivalent field experience
  • Experience with access control systems and field hardware installation
  • Familiarity with MDF/IDF environments
  • Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and riser drawings
  • Background in data center, commercial construction, or mission-critical environments
  • Basic troubleshooting ability with low voltage systems
