Job description

Davis Staffing, Inc. has an immediate need for an experienced Burner Operator for a steel company in Chicago Heights, Il. This is a temp to hire position working a 2nd shift.

A Burner Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining industrial burning and cutting equipment to process metal materials according to production specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read technical drawings.
Job Qualifications Include:

  • Must have steel industry experience

  • Experience with CNC burn tables (e.g., Messer, Koike, ESAB)

  • Welding or fabrication background

  • Forklift or overhead crane certification

  • Knowledge of shop safety standards

  • Experience operating industrial cutting or burning equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

  • Basic math skills for measuring and layout

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate oxy-fuel, plasma, or CNC burning equipment to cut and shape metal plates, beams, and structural components

  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, and cut lists to determine material requirements

  • Set up machines, adjust settings, and ensure proper cutting parameters

  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications

  • Perform routine maintenance on burners, torches, and cutting tables

Job Details Include:

  • Temp to Hire

  • 3:30 pm - 12:00 am, Monday - Friday

  • $21 an hour
