Job description
Key job responsibilities
- Communication with customers (Carriers, Rail Road partners, Vendors/Suppliers) and stakeholders (Program Managers, Fulfillment Centers, Amazon Managed carrier programs).
- Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
- Understand performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
- Rectify disruptions, breaks in process and follow standard work to make decisions that make sense based on available data.
- Provide real-time customer experience by working in a fast paced operating environment.
- Knowledge to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams.
- Deliver follow through on the resolutions to ensure the information is delivered.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed.
- Communication, both verbal and written as their data and findings are critical to tracking trends and performance inefficiencies.
- Identifying possible disruptions in a route and fixing/rerouting it in a timely manner.
- Deliver positive carrier and driver experience/solutions, in a contact center environment, through researching, problem-solving, setting appropriate expectations and working within the Amazon Transportation network to get trailers/trucks back on track when disruptions occur.
A day in the life
The AZIM Transportation Operations Specialist facilitates the continued flow of Amazon's supply chain by passing information to key stakeholders and resolving disruptions that impact customer experience or the flow of information impacting performance and delivery. The Specialist checks on a list of shipments and makes sure everything is as it should be, then optimizes the driver's intermodal portions of the trip as much as possible while providing any necessary information to avoid disruptions. Will be required to make real-time decisions to resolve issues and cancelations. Will also be apart of new and inventive programs designed to bridge a gap or improve overall business. The Specialist addresses or escalates any concerns arising during the lifecycle of freight leaving rail ramps, shipper hubs, Amazon fulfillment centers, or transiting between rail to OTR carriers. The day-to day role requires the specialist to provide resolutions by researching and querying internal tools and making real-time decisions in accordance with their guidance and standard work processes. In this role, the Transportation Operations Specialist will be able to understand the process and requirements/be able to analyze data and notice trends and be able to drive Customer Experience without compromising on time. This position will need to have the experience to understand Logistics and should be able to communicate clearly in the written and oral form.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of working with computers and Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Are 18 years of age or older
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a logistics/operations environment
