Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Dispatcher - Intermodal will provide excellent customer service and have a great willingness to help, wherever needed, while being the main line of communication with the contractors.
  • Assign loads to the contractors in a timely and efficient manner
  • Inform our Customer Service Representatives of all developments throughout the day so they can keep our customers updated
  • Monitor contractors’ HOS to route and prioritize contractors’ schedules to maximize turnaround
  • Update database in a timely manner with appropriate route, delivery status, and time stamps
  • Document in our TMS for delays, dry runs, yard stops, missed loads, appointments etc.
  • Update contractors with important information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and requirements
  • Communicate contractor pay, chassis availability and appointment times
  • Track order costs and billing information
  • Confirm contractors’ completed delivery information
  • Track where empty containers need to go and plan accordingly
  • Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
  • Understand and manage cut-off times for deliveries to ensure proper scheduling
  • Willingness and ability to solve contractors’ issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Schedule: M-F- days
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the intermodal industry; dispatch preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook as well as overall computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Self-Motivated / Detail oriented / Ability to prioritize
