Job description

The Software Engineer II role at vAuto is an intermediate-level developer position responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that support vAuto's automotive solutions. This role involves hands-on coding, debugging, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software. Engineers at this level are expected to work independently on moderately complex tasks, mentor junior developers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications and backend services for vAuto products.
  • Write clean, efficient, and testable code using modern frameworks and languages (e.g., C#, .NET Core, JavaScript/React, SQL).
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver features aligned with business needs.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues.
  • Contribute to improving development processes and best practices.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 14 years' experience in a related field
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Experience with web technologies and frameworks (ASP.NET, React, REST APIs).
  • Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with AI technologies or strong curiosity to incorporate AI into development such as Agentic coding.
  • AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT. Claude Code).
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.
  • Availability for rotational on-call duties outside of standard business hours may be required.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and performance optimization.

Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and adapt to changing priorities.

USD 98,300.00 - 147,500.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $98,300.00 - $147,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
