Intermediate Project Engineer (P.Eng.)
Location: Hamilton or Vaughan ON (Hybrid)
Salary: $90,000 - $120,000
Our client is a well-established consulting engineering firm specializing in the assessment, design, and modernization of mechanical and electrical building systems across Southern Ontario. Key Responsibilities As an Intermediate Project Engineer, you will:
- Manage multiple engineering projects through the full project lifecycle
- Perform engineering analysis including:
- Heating and cooling load calculations
- Piping/ducting distribution losses
- Equipment selection and sizing
- Energy modelling and greenhouse gas reduction assessments
- Lighting and photometric analysis
- Generator load evaluations
- Mechanical and electrical system design
- Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Conduct building assessments and recommend practical, energy-efficient solutions
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submissions
- Perform site reviews and construction contract administration
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Analyze operational costs and greenhouse gas emissions to support sustainable design solutions
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario
- Approximately 5+ years of consulting engineering and project management experience
- Experience with mechanical and electrical building systems
- Experience delivering retrofit and renovation projects is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Ontario building codes and engineering standards
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Visio
Preferred Experience Experience working on projects within:
- Healthcare
- Municipal
- Educational
- Commercial
- Government and public sector facilities
Additional Requirements
- Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Ability to obtain security clearance for provincial and federal government projects
