CITGO Petroleum Corporation is a recognized leader in the refining industry and operates under the well-known CITGO brand. CITGO owns and operates three refineries located in Lake Charles, LA.; Lemont, IL.; and Corpus Christi, TX, and wholly and/or jointly owns 38 active terminals, six pipelines and three lubricants blending and packaging plants. With approximately 3,300 employees and a combined crude capacity of approximately 807,000 barrels-per-day (bpd), positions CITGO as one of the best-branded supplier companies in the industry.

Job Summary

This role combines traditional reconciliation support responsibilities with a strong emphasis on data analytics, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can manage high-volume transaction data, support analytics initiatives, and help drive sustainable innovation.

The position requires a combination of technical analytics capabilities and strong interpersonal skills to support the organization's analytics initiatives and innovation efforts.

This position will obtain and possess detailed technical knowledge of CITGO’s supported Point-of-Sale (“POS”) terminals and vendors/manufacturers (“POS Vendors”) for the purpose of managing the relationship and providing support for escalations between 1) CITGO’s customers and CITGO; 2) CITGO and the POS vendors; 3) the POS vendors, 4) CITGO's payment network, and 5) CITGO’s payment processor. The incumbent must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter, perform critical thinking, and exercise independent judgment. 

This position will require the ability to analyze transactional logs to identify potential customer, network, payment processor and/or POS vendor issues, and initiate and provide notification regarding specific plans to correct the issue.

This position will also work with the Sales and Marketing Teams to board new locations, transfer existing locations, and assist with the branding, unbranding, and debranding processes. 

It is imperative that the Payment Card Support & Data Analyst proactively identify and remedy POS and Settlement issues to avoid a financial impacting event to CITGO and its customers, strained relationships with CITGO Marketers and retailers, and costly damage to the CITGO brand.  

Please note: This position is NOT REMOTE.  It will be on-site at the Corporate Headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Minimum Qualifications

•    Technical aptitude 
•    Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas), SQL, and reconciliation software.
•    Experience with dashboard/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
•    Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments and educate non-technical users.
•    Retail operations experience helpful, but not necessary
•    Customer service skills
•    Problem solving skills
•    Previous POS hardware/software technical certifications helpful
•    Familiarity with POS systems, ERP platforms (e.g., SAP), and payment processors

  • Knowledge of PCI compliance and financial audit standards.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Alteryx) is a bonus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or related field with 3-years minimum experience.  Or 5 years’ experience in lieu of degree. Experience with petroleum-specific systems (e.g., PDI, Verifone Gilbarco, Fleet). Exposure to data science tools or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Power BI).
Job Duties

1. Gather, clean, and preprocess data from various sources to ensure data quality and accuracy. Prepare datasets for analysis by performing tasks such as data merging, normalization, and transformation.  

2. Conduct basic data analysis and generate reports to support business decision-making. Utilize data visualization tools like Power BI to create clear and insightful dashboards and reports.

3. Support beginner to intermediate data science tasks, including data cleansing, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection. 

4. Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to pre-authorizations, chargebacks, refunds, and settlement delays. Review settlement to ensure accurate and timely payment to CITGO’s Marketer partners.  Ensure that CITGO is funded appropriately and only transactions paid to CITGO are relayed to Marketers.  Work with CITGO Marketers to obtain POS records and compared to payments, resubmitting transactions for resubmission when necessary.

5. Review and reconcile CITGO’s Gift Card Program to ensure accurate financial postings.

6. Maintain and document reconciliation procedures, data processes, workflows, and analytical models. Ensure that all documentation is up to date and accessible for team members. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts

7. Assist CITGO Marketers with Reporting and POS inquiries
