Job description

About Delta Intelligent Building Technologies (Canada) Inc. (formerly known as Delta Controls)

Delta Intelligent Building Technologies (Canada) Inc. is a leading building controls manufacturer. For over three decades, we have provided innovative building automation solutions for commercial, healthcare, education, and leisure facilities.

Job Summary

We’re building an AI-powered cloud platform that unifies and automates the lifecycle of intelligent building systems through a shared data, workflow, and programming foundation across Building Automation Systems (BAS), lighting, security, and IoT.

We are looking for an automation-first Software QA – Intermediate to ensure the reliability and quality of the platform as it scales. This is not a manual QA role - the focus is on building and maintaining automated test systems using programming, test architecture, and CI/CD integration to validate APIs, UI, services, data workflows, integrations, and AI-assisted features.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks across UI, APIs, services, data workflows, integrations, and end-to-end platform scenarios.
  • Embed automated validation into CI/CD pipelines to provide fast, reliable quality signals for development, deployment, and release decisions.
  • Develop automation-first test strategies that reduce repetitive manual validation and improve confidence in frequent platform releases.
  • Validate AI-assisted features, platform workflows, service integrations, and intelligent building use cases through reliable, maintainable automation.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, architects, and QA team members to define testable requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality gates.
  • Build and improve test utilities, test data, mocks, fixtures, environments, and diagnostics to make automated testing scalable and debuggable.
  • Investigate test failures, identify product defects versus test instability, and continuously improve automation reliability and coverage.
  • Promote engineering practices that make the platform more testable, observable, resilient, and continuously verified.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in QA or software development
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, Java, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience building automated tests for modern SaaS, cloud, web, or distributed software platforms.
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks, CI/CD systems, API testing, service integration testing, and test data management.
  • Ability to create automation that is reliable, maintainable, debuggable, and appropriate for the risk being tested.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-native development concepts such as containers, deployment environments, feature flags, observability, and release pipelines.
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and the challenges of validating AI-assisted or non-deterministic product behavior.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application code, test code, data, infrastructure, and environment issues.
  • Automation-first mindset, with a preference for repeatable, programmatic validation over manual checklist-driven regression testing.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with development teams and influence product design toward better testability.
  • Experience with building automation systems, IoT, smart buildings, industrial automation, digital twins, or operational technology is an asset.
