Eight anticipated vacancies exist for full-time Early Head Start Child Development Assistants  within the Early Head Start Program in the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. These are 260 day positions, working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and will be located in West Chester.

Summary:

The Early Head Start Child Development Assistant supports early childhood programming by assisting the Child Development Specialist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities. Builds positive, effective relationships with both children and adults, while helping ensure a safe, nurturing environment by assisting with daily child care responsibilities and classroom support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To assist the Child Development Specialist in planning and executing early childhood activities
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with adults and children
  • Assist the teacher in carrying out the duties of caring for children

Qualifications:

  • CDA or Associates Degree, or willingness to attain CDA within one year required
  • Previous exprience working in a childcare/preschool setting preferred
  • Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
  • Current (within one year) State Criminal, Child Abuse & FBI Fingerprint, NSOR Clearance clearances required
  • Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)
  • Two professional written letters of reference 

Hourly Rate: 

The Assistant starting hourly rate is provided below based on candidate experience.  

  • 0 - 4 yrs experience = $17.91
  • 5 - 10 yrs experience = $19.01
  • 11 - 16 yrs experience = $20.14
  • 17 - 22 yrs experience = $21.25
  • 23 - 28 yrs experience = $22.38
  • 29 - 35 yrs experience = $23.49
    Placement on scale based on years of experience*
