Job description

The Austin Public School District is seeking to hire Full Time 1.0 Setting IV Special Education Teachers at Oakland Education Center for the 2026-2027 school year.

APS is a world-class public school system located in Austin, MN. We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds.

Applications will be accepted, and highly qualified candidates will be interviewed now until the position is filled.

  • This position is in a self-contained classroom
  • The teacher hired for this position may teach courses in child development, working with young children, life skills, interior design, and or foods.
  • We also continue to explore opportunities that would allow us to offer concurrently taught classes with our local community college. 


Qualifications:
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from PELSB.
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:
Prior successful experience in multicultural education desirable.
Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.






Salary/Benefits:  Annual Salary Range is according to education and experience. Also includes a competitive benefits package of paid time off, health insurance, life insurance, etc., according to the AEA Working Agreement located within the Human Resource section of the Austin Public Schools website at www.austin.k12.mn.us.
