Job description

Description:

About Us: Design Environments is a leading national commercial interior design firm that provides interior design, furniture, fixture, and equipment procurement, project management, and warehousing and installation services to its clients across the United States. Headquartered in Marietta, GA, we have design studios and offices in Chicago, Boston, and Greensboro, NC. We serve a diverse range of markets, including hospitality, senior living, multi-family housing, single-family model homes, student housing and private clubs. At Design Environments, our mission is simple: To create inspiring spaces and seamlessly deliver a worry-free experience for every client.

About the Role: Design is at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re joining us as a Designer, Project Designer, or Senior Designer, your title reflects the depth of your experience and the impact you bring to each project. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team to transform ideas into inspired spaces—balancing creativity, strategy, and execution. From refining design concepts to leading full-scale initiatives, you’ll have opportunities to grow, mentor, and make your mark. Curiosity, collaboration, and an eye for detail drive success here, along with a love for creating designs that tell a story and connect with people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and execute design concepts that align with client goals, budgets, and brand vision.
  • Contribute to all phases of the design process—from concept development and space planning to detailed documentation and installation coordination.
  • Create compelling digital and physical presentations that bring ideas to life, using design software (Sketchup, Photoshop, Powerpoint, and Enscape, or current DE standard) and visualization tools
  • Develop and maintain accurate drawings (AutoCAD and/or Revit), finish schedules, and FF&E specifications to ensure precise project execution and procurement.
  • Source and select materials, finishes, and furnishings that support the project narrative and meet commercial design standards.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including procurement, client delivery, and installation—to ensure seamless project delivery and exceptional client experiences.
  • Support or lead client presentations and meetings, providing follow-up documentation and proactive communication.
  • Maintain organized project files, design libraries, and timekeeping records with attention to detail and accountability.
  • Depending on level, mentor teammates, oversee junior design work, and help shape best practices within the studio.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD with the ability to create and edit detailed drawings and documentation.
  • Experience with 3D visualization tools such as SketchUp and Enscape to communicate design intent.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office for presentations, documentation, and project organization.
  • Strong understanding of FF&E specifications, finishes, and materials selection within commercial design.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience levels range from entry-level designers to senior design leaders—title and expectations commensurate with experience.

Key Attributes:

  • A creative problem-solver who approaches every design challenge with curiosity, innovation, and purpose.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to balance multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadlines with ease.
  • A clear and confident communicator who can translate design ideas into compelling stories—both visually and verbally.
  • A collaborative spirit who values teamwork, mentorship, and the exchange of ideas to achieve exceptional results.
  • Passionate about growth—eager to learn, experiment, and stay current with evolving design trends and technologies.
  • Meticulous in detail and execution, ensuring quality and precision from concept to completion.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support client presentations, site visits, and installations.

Compensation Package:

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and skills.
  • Annual bonus opportunity based on individual and company performance.
  • Personal time off for work-life balance and rejuvenation.
  • 9 paid holidays to celebrate and recharge.
  • Comprehensive health care benefits to support your well-being.
  • 401(k) with company match to help you plan for your future.
