Job description

We are seeking a bold, future-focused Interior Design Director to lead our award-winning Boston interior design practice. This is more than a leadership roleโ€”itโ€™s a rare opportunity to shape the next era of interior environments at one of the most innovative interdisciplinary design firms on the planet.ย

As a member of the studioโ€™s leadership team, youโ€™ll partner closely with the Architecture Design Director to champion ideas that challenge convention, promote sustainability and equity, and elevate the human experience through design. Youโ€™ll help define whatโ€™s nextโ€”not just whatโ€™s now.ย

Weโ€™re looking for someone with the vision to inspire, the rigor to deliver, and the passion to build teams, relationships, and culture.ย

What You'll Leadย

Design Excellence - Youโ€™ll lead the creative direction of interior projectsโ€”whether standalone or integratedโ€”pushing boundaries in sustainability, material health, and craft. Youโ€™ll ensure every detail aligns with our mission: design a better, more just world.ย

Studio Culture - Youโ€™ll shape an inclusive, creative studio environment where ideas thrive. Youโ€™ll recruit, mentor, and grow the next generation of design leaders.ย

Client Relationships - As a strategic partner and design advocate, youโ€™ll build trust with clients from day one and position our studio as a go-to for bold, values-driven design.ย

Integrated Collaboration - Youโ€™ll work hand-in-hand with architects, planners, consultants, and researchers to develop truly interdisciplinary solutions.ย

Business Development - Youโ€™ll lead pursuits, craft narratives, and represent the Boston studio in interviews and market-facing efforts.ย

What You Bringย

  • 15+ years of interior design leadership across a range of project types (workplace, education, healthcare, civic, or others).
  • Professional licensure (e.g., NCIDQ, Architectural license).
  • An inspiring design portfolio, including recognized or award-winning work.
  • Deep fluency in interior codes, systems, and standards.
  • Experience guiding multidisciplinary teams from concept through delivery.
  • Strong client communication, negotiation, and budget management skills.
  • Experience in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Suite, Enscape, and VRay.
  • Direct experience in coordinating consultants, including Lighting, Acoustics, AV, MEPFP and Structure.ย

Preferred Credentialsย

  • Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
  • LEED GA required within 6 months of hire; WELL AP or Living Future Accreditation a plus.ย

Who You Areย

  • A visionary thinker and dynamic communicator.
  • A creative leader driven by purpose and curiosity.
  • A champion of sustainability, equity, and inclusion in design.
  • A mentor who thrives on building talent and empowering teams.
  • A collaborator who believes the best ideas are shared.ย

This is your chance to leave a legacyโ€”not just a footprint. If youโ€™re ready to lead interior design at the highest level of innovation, join us in shaping a more beautiful, healthy, and equitable worldโ€”from the inside out.ย

Please submit a portfolio of design work that expresses both the quality of your completed projects and your unique design passions.
