Exowatt is revolutionizing the energy landscape for the AI era with our groundbreaking P3system that captures solar energy, stores it as heat, and generates electricity on demand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Balance of Plant (BoP) Design: Lead the design and specification of electrical balance of plant components, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, and protection systems.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of P3 modules with customer infrastructure, microgrids, and utility grids, optimizing for efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
  • Interconnection & Compliance: Develop interconnection strategies for various applications, ensuring compliance with IEEE 1547, UL 1741, NEC, and local utility interconnection requirements.
  • Microgrid & Power Distribution Design: Design and model microgrids and distributed energy systems, integrating power electronics, load management, and grid synchronization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal engineering teams, EPCs, developers, and customers to align technical requirements, coordinate project execution, and resolve integration challenges.
  • Power System Modeling & Analysis: Utilize tools such as ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E, or PowerWorld to analyze power flows, short circuit scenarios, transient stability, and protection coordination.
  • Protection & Control Strategies: Define protection schemes, relay settings, and control logic to ensure system stability, grid compliance, and operational safety.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Support commissioning and validation of P3 deployments, ensuring systems meet performance and reliability expectations.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop engineering specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), protection coordination studies, and technical reports to support system deployment and operation.
Requirements
  • Educational Background: BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in power systems engineering, microgrid design, or power generation projects.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of power electronics, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, inverters, and power system stability.
  • Microgrid & Renewable Integration: Experience integrating solar, battery storage, or thermal power generation into islanded and grid-connected microgrid architectures.
  • Regulatory & Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SA, NFPA 70 (NEC), FERC/NERC standards, and utility interconnection processes.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Proficiency in ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerWorld, HOMER, or similar modeling tools for power system design and grid integration.
  • Project Execution: Experience working with EPCs, utilities, and developers to successfully deploy and commission power generation projects.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong ability to interface with customers, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and present technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment, balancing multiple projects and adapting to evolving technical challenges.
