Learning & Development Manager โ€“ Instructional Design & Onboarding

Location: Miami, FL (Travel: Less than 10%)

Leon Recruitment is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a Fortune 200 company seeking a Learning & Development Manager to support one of its business divisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced learning and development professional who enjoys building engaging training content, creating interactive e-learning experiences, improving onboarding programs, and partnering with operational leaders to drive employee success.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing digital learning content in Articulate Storyline, facilitating instructor-led training, documenting business processes, and collaborating with subject matter experts to build scalable learning solutions.

Position Summary

The Learning & Development Manager will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and delivering training programs that support a specific business department. This role will partner closely with department leadership and subject matter experts to create learning experiences that improve onboarding, employee performance, process consistency, and operational excellence.

This individual will own the department's learning content library, develop interactive e-learning modules, facilitate onboarding, analyze training effectiveness, and continuously improve learning programs based on business needs and performance metrics.

Candidates must be able to provide a portfolio or work samples demonstrating prior instructional design and e-learning development experience, preferably using Articulate Storyline 360.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Content Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain engaging training materials including:

    • E-learning modules

    • Instructor-led training guides

    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    • Job aids

    • Process documentation

    • Videos

    • Quick reference guides

    • Knowledge assessments

  • Develop interactive digital learning content using Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring tools.

  • Create engaging learning experiences utilizing:

    • Branching scenarios

    • Software simulations

    • Interactive exercises

    • Knowledge checks

    • Assessments

    • Scenario-based learning

  • Partner with department leaders and subject matter experts to translate complex operational processes into effective learning materials.

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies including ADDIE, SAM, and other industry best practices.

  • Regularly review and update learning materials to reflect business process improvements, policy changes, and system enhancements.

  • Maintain an organized and centralized learning content library.

Training & Onboarding

  • Lead onboarding training for new associates within the department.

  • Develop structured onboarding programs that reduce time-to-productivity.

  • Facilitate instructor-led classroom and virtual training sessions.

  • Conduct onboarding assessments and gather learner feedback.

  • Support the rollout of new systems, business processes, and operational initiatives through effective training programs.

Learning Strategy & Performance

  • Conduct learning needs assessments and identify knowledge gaps.

  • Recommend training solutions that improve employee performance and operational consistency.

  • Develop and monitor key learning metrics including:

    • Training completion rates

    • Assessment scores

    • Time-to-competency

    • Learner satisfaction

    • Training effectiveness

  • Present training results and recommendations to department leadership.

  • Continuously improve training programs based on feedback, business needs, and learning analytics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Communications, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Corporate Training, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience creating instructional content and facilitating training for adult learners.

  • Experience developing interactive e-learning content using Articulate Storyline 360, Articulate Rise 360, Adobe Captaptivate, or similar authoring tools.

  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Experience developing:

    • SOPs

    • Process documentation
