Boston University Virtual is focused on the creation and support of high-quality online degree and certificate programs. We are seeking a Manager, Media & Interactive Design, to support our growing online portfolio in areas such as interactive media, emerging technologies, design and production. Reporting to, and working in close collaboration with the Executive Director, Live Studio & Media Center Operations, this individual is responsible for successfully strategizing, developing and supporting a broad range of media services, as well as all aspects of audio, video, interactive media design and production. Success in this role is leveraging extensive expertise in media, interactive design and innovation to develop superior quality, engaging and impactful media content in support of BU Virtuals portfolio of online programs. The individual in this position is an enthusiastic, dynamic and skillful leader/strategic partner who has deep experience in creating scalable workflows leveraging new and emerging technologies to achieve optimal efficiency and productivity. Responsibilities include overseeing media content delivery and development and managing the distribution of work across the BU Virtual media team. Additional responsibilities include, assessing resource and team capacity in alignment with the Lead Media Producer and under the guidance of the Executive Director. This individual possesses an extensive and successful portfolio of media innovation in higher education, and performative expertise and experience working with advanced digital production tools and software, is an inspiring change agent and a skillful and persuasive collaborator with internal and external partners. Has advanced knowledge and experience with Artificial Intelligence and myriad State-of-the-Art technologies and its applications in media creation evolution. Navigates the changing landscape of live broadcasting and asynchronous interactive media in support of online programs to build community and differentiation. Collaborating with leaders inside of BU Virtual and across BUs schools and colleges, this individual fosters a culture of excellence and innovation in broadcast and interactive media and design to bring increased value, engagement and distinction to the online program portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Promotes a culture of excellence and innovation in broadcast and interactive media and design to bring increased value, engagement and distinction to the online program portfolio.
  • Skillfully evaluate, coordinate and optimize media delivery in support of current and new program deliverables.
  • Research new and emerging technologies and cultivate fresh relationships with new technology partners.
  • Assess media requests and coordinate the dissemination of work across the BU Virtual media team. Work in close collaboration with the Executive Director, Live Studio and Media Center Operations.
  • Coordinates studio and post-production schedules in alignment with the Lead Media Producer and Executive Director.
  • Develop scalable media workflows to achieve optimal efficiency and productivity in media content creation.
  • Be an inspirational agent of change and innovation, and an agile and steadfast collaborator with internal and external partners.
  • Work closely with instructional designers, learning designers, media producers and presenters to create engaging, interactive and innovative content.
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to cultivate a new evolution of media creation and delivery.
  • Perform hands on production/postproduction duties as needed during periods of high demand.
  • Foster an environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
  • 7-10 years of professional production experience in interactive media and design creating high-quality content, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and creating innovative and efficient production workflows and processes.
  • Leadership experience partnering with agile media teams and cross functional partners.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge working with state-of-the-art digital video and audio production tools and software.
  • Proficiency working with Adobe Creative Cloud applications with particular focus on superior Premiere Pro skills.
  • Highly advanced exposure, experience and knowledge of AI technology, preferably in the higher education space.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interactive media design and implementation.
  • Adept at working with a variety of stakeholders in a large matrixed environment, including faculty, staff, students and administrators.
  • Excellent program management skills and attention to detail, with a proven track record of excellence overseeing a multitude of audio and video projects and creative teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Media Production, Television Production, Multimedia/Visual Communications, Graphic Design, or related field.
