Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Intelligent Transportation System/Traffic Engineer (Hybrid) based in Houston, TX. 

This position will lead and assist with ITS design projects, Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO), Concept of Operations, ITS architectures, emerging technology planning/design/programming. This will include but is not limited to support of plan reviews, ITS planning, concept of operations, task lead, mentoring junior staff on ITS/electrical projects.

  • Serves as a task lead for the management and development of ITS plans/programs
  • Determining ITS program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse ITS related activities
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers
  • Develop Scope of Services for ITS planning, programming, design & emerging technology projects
  • Provide oversight and direction to project team members and subconsultants
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Performs work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with minimal supervision
  • Independently problem solve items for projects; work with project managers to execute design projects
  • Serve as a technical expert for ITS/electrical projects
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Traffic signal design, signing and striping design, and ITS design experience
  • Experience with ITS system and design principles, standards, guidelines, processes, operations, and policy
  • Experience with ITS system and design principles, standards, guidelines, processes, operations, and policy
  • Up to Date on latest ITS technologies/vendors
  • Prepare technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
  • Proficient in MicroStation, Excel, Word, Google Earth
  • PS&E experience with fiber and wireless networks, CCTV, DMS
  • Project experience with TxDOT, City agencies
  • Excellent written/communication skills
