Job description

Job Purpose:

* Location: Bay Area*
Our Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development, coordination and direction of profitable sales within a specified region. Duties include acting as the leader of your territory by managing a team of sales professionals, implementing and fostering corporate initiatives, maintaining supplier relationships and growing Veritiv's customer base. This position requires a "take the wheel" approach for the entire sales process along with strong skills for intelligence gathering, prospecting to negotiating and account management.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop a team of high performers who grow business through new account acquisition and expanding share of wallet.
Implement sales and marketing strategies which will contribute to achieving the Territory and Regional objectives.
Conduct sales meetings, trainings, and account/pipeline reviews on a regular basis with sales group.
Set appropriate performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these.
Identify opportunities and present solutions offered by the organization that meet the customer's needs.
Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand.
Work with organization to ensure team members maintain up-to-date customer and inventory data in the CRM and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory) and budget execution.
Partner with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current.
Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures to ensure the team's and own work adheres to required standards.
May be requested to perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Experience and knowledge in in Packaging or similar industry is preferred.
Must have strong leadership and management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Excellent verbal, written, people and diplomacy skills required.
Good interpersonal and conflict management skills required.
30% travel required.
Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports.
Territory sales or account management experience preferred.
Strong understanding or experience from a large, national or decentralized distribution organization preferred.
Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is preferred.

Salary Range: $143,000 to $210,400 with bonus eligibility.

Work Experience:

10-15 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent. 15+ years of related job experience. A thorough understanding of distribution management (customer service, sales, purchasing, warehouse, credit, information systems, and logistics) that is preferably from a large, national, or decentralized organization. Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required. Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames. Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework. Strong planning and organization skills are required.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Physical Requirements:
A significant portion of the job responsibilities will require computer work that involves the continuous use of the fingers, hands, wrists, and sitting for long periods of time.
The position also requires frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
The position requires work in an office as well as travel to customers, suppliers, group meetings, etc.
