Position: Business Intelligence Team Leader; (Data Analytics Team Leader)
Description:
BASIC PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
The Data Analytics Manager is responsible for the development of BI initiatives such as data visualization, interactive reporting and Executive dashboard design.
This position will manage the work efforts of the Data Analytics Team and will serve as the responsible party for conducting requirements gathering, scoping, and data generation efforts to meet the analytics needs of MESSA.
The Data Analytics Manager will be responsible for supervision of staff in the performance of their assignments, be responsible for staff development, coaching/mentoring, performance evaluations and making recommendations on roles and skillsets.
This position plays a key role in driving the use of analytics throughout MESSA. This would involve interfacing with MESSA leaders in various divisions, understanding their needs, and supervising the BI team to address them.
Essential Duties:
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
โ€ข consult with business stakeholders to provide analytics and business intelligence for data-driven decision making
โ€ข lead the development of BI/DW applications

โ€ข coordinate and assists in preparation of documentation and functional specifications as needed
โ€ข be responsible for end-to-end development of data visualization reports and dashboards, design, construct
โ€ข maintain Business Objects environment and/or data models, investigate business issues and determine best way to develop appropriate diagnostic and/or tracking data that will translate business requirements into usable decision support tools.
Provide technical and analytical expertise in all phases of data warehouse and data analytics development including planning, development, testing and training.
Will supervise and direct staff in their daily work; including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that policies and procedures are followed; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Able to use complex algorithms to look at the data trends and recommend solutions; must be able to communicate findings to all levels of decision makers; monitor status of projects, define metrics and key performance indicators to track efficiency and efficacy of deliverables; responsible for the quality of work delivered by team members while providing relevant technical coaching and support.
Utilizes a comprehensive understanding of multiple data structures and sources to lead or direct the design, development and implementation of decision support solutions, which may include data visualization, business intelligence, or data collection in order to identify and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences.
Prototypes solutions for displaying information based on business needs.
Work with power users of the reporting tool to advise on best practices.
Manage the reporting and analytics platform(s) to ensure that scheduled jobs are successfully run and analytics data aligns to timeliness completeness requirements.
Lead and provide oversight in gathering complex and often unique business requirements by defining the business problem and data requirements.
Establish positive relationships with the business operations to ensure effective design of decision support solutions.

Lead or direct the development of innovative approaches to address complex or unique business problems and solutions.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline/technical field 3+ years' relevant work experience OR a Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline 2+ years' relevant work experience;
Proven experience in a leadership role, experience managing IT related projects, experience in an IT environment and respective business area in gathering, analyzing and documenting requirements, experience in data warehouse products, experience in Business Intelligence, data warehouse extraction, transformation and load design and development experience; experience building reporting systems, business analytics, data marts / warehousing, data modeling, ETL technologies, dashboards, portals;
Must have experience with each of the following: (1) implementing Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions; (2) building efficient data models, using industry best practices and metadata for ad-hoc reporting; and (3) building ETL Platform; and, (4) managing personnel.
Must have knowledge of technology concepts, strategies and methodologies typically acquired in technical or business discipline in a relevant domain including delivering software solutions in an agile environment.
Ability to translate complex terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resources staff.
Strong project, process, and people management skills.
Requires excellent analytical ability, consultative, communication, presentation and management skills, strong judgment and ability to effectively liaise with cross-functional stakeholders and optimize teams in a service-oriented environment.
In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies; thorough knowledge of business functions and operations, objectives and strategies.
Healthcare experience highly preferred; Tableau experience is highly regarded; Skilled in Agile development techniques;
