Job description

OVERVIEW:
Develops and refines descriptive and diagnostics visuals utilizing established templates and standards to enable data informed decisions. Assists in dashboard/report user acceptance.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leverage one or more Business Intelligence (BI) platforms to structure and create advanced charts, graphs and other visuals.
  • Navigate and publish BI dashboards/reports, provide access, and manage permissions
  • Use knowledge of programming languages to work with data teams to query and structure data for use in dashboards/reports.
  • Use intermediate knowledge of business and technical metadata to support creation of visualizations.
  • Support business insights through the development of descriptive and diagnostic reporting by selecting appropriate visuals to identify trends and outliers.
  • Use established templates, standards and themes to create uniform visuals for a given audience.
  • Assist business partners and more experienced visualization team members in conducting user acceptance testing of data visualizations, documenting identified defects and refining dashboards/reports.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities and assist in development using automation and business intelligence tools, including target state process mapping and capturing business value.
  • Support a Center of Excellence (CoE) framework for BI platforms, including governance controls, performance optimization, best practices, and training.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Tactical experience with a minimum of one data visualization tool
  • Experience developing basic dashboards/reports and data visualizations
  • Experience designing low-code/no-code applications and automated workflows
  • Intermediate knowledge of data visualization approaches
  • Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) to analyze, extract, and transform data

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Tactical experience with multiple data visualization tools (Power BI and Tableau preferred)
  • Proven design experience across fields such as data, user experience, and/or graphics
  • Knowledge of data management concepts and terminology
  • Certification in data storytelling and/or data visualization tools
  • Applied experience in business process modeling and improvement (Six Sigma certification preferred)

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $94,400.00 - $157,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
