Role: Mechanical (Thermal) Design Engineer
Location : Pelzer, SC

The Mechanical (Thermal) Design Engineer is responsible for designing thermal and ventilation systems—including HVAC, airflow, and mechanical layouts—for customized AC/DC power modules, IT modules, and data centers. The role supports engineering and business development needs, ensures code-compliant designs, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and delivers complete mechanical integration packages. 

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead mechanical design of thermal/ventilation systems, HVAC, fire suppression layouts, equipment arrangements, and cable management systems. 
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs (SD, DD, CD) and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes. 
  • Perform thermal transfer calculations, fire-rating analysis, and basic CFD modeling. 
  • Create mechanical layout drawings, material specifications, and integration documents. 
  • Review and approve mechanical equipment submittals. 
  • Coordinate with structural, electrical, and commissioning teams. 
  • Support quality control during system integration and provide onsite technical support. 
  • Conduct site visits for design validation, audits, troubleshooting, and startup activities. 
  • Communicate with customers to refine design requirements and provide innovative solutions. 

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (thermal focus preferred); PE license optional. 
  • 4+ years mechanical engineering experience (HVAC, thermal, or data center preferred). 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Strong understanding of building codes and construction requirements. 
  • Ability to read construction drawings and equipment specs. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. 
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and capable of developing cost-effective, high-quality solutions
