Job description

Job Title: Materials Handler III (Quality)
Location: Portsmouth, VA

Day Shift

Role Overview:
This role supports the Quality Management System (QMS) within a distribution center by performing audits, monitoring picking activities, and ensuring compliance with procedures. The focus is on maintaining product quality, identifying issues early, and improving operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine quality control audits and spot checks
  • Verify daily picking activities for accuracy
  • Identify, analyze, and report service issues and trends
  • Provide real-time feedback to prevent errors
  • Remove damaged products from inventory
  • Participate in internal audits and quality programs
  • Support document control and record retention processes
  • Communicate issues in daily team (Tier) meetings
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • 2+ years of warehouse/distribution experience
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
Skills
  • Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook
  • ERP experience (SAGE or Great Plains preferred)
  • Good communication (written & verbal)
Work Environment
