Job description

We are seeking experienced CEI Inspectors with experience in Roadway inspection for our Transportation-Construction Management (T-CM) team in the Waynesville, NC area.

RS&H is currently seeking an experienced inspector technician to join our team. This position will work outside on an active construction site. As part of the construction management team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by observing the work of contractors to determine the progress and quality of work on construction projects. This position performs highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, including making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests and is responsible for coordinating and managing junior inspectors; reviews and interprets contract documents to determine if the contractor’s work is in compliance; maintains detailed accurate records of the contractor’s daily operations and of significant events that affect the work; and performs sampling and field testing of component materials and completed work. This position may also direct, guide, and mentor junior inspectors.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and seven years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have experience in construction inspection, including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection, or a degree in civil engineering.
  • Have materials sampling/testing certifications. 
  • Have a valid driver's license, be insurable, and be able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites. 
  • Have a passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements.
  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.
