The Sault-Saint-Louis Palliative Care Residence, located in the LaSalle borough of Montreal, offers free care and psychosocial services to Greater Montreal residents at the end of life and their loved ones, and is seeking to fill the following positions: EVENING AND NIGHT NURSE (2 different positions) Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the incumbent is responsible for providing all patients with high-quality nursing care and clinical services. In this capacity, they ensure that patients, their families, and loved ones have access to a level of nursing care that meets their needs. Type of schedule: Permanent part-time position 7/15 Including every other weekend Night shift: 7 consecutive nights followed by 7 days off Roles and responsibilities: Welcoming and integrating caregivers: informing them about procedures, managing their expectations and explaining the house rules to them; Develop the work plan for the day according to the care and treatments to be given, taking into account the PTI: note down medical prescriptions, taking into account the medications used in palliative care and their side effects; Prepare, verify, administer, record and store medication appropriately according to established protocols; Collaborating with the pharmacist: sending prescriptions, renewing prescriptions and answering phone calls for clarification; Observe, assess and treat symptoms: encourage the patient and their loved ones to inform healthcare staff of their discomfort and pain, in order to obtain a rapid response; Participate in basic patient care and hygiene (including bathing, meals, etc.); Accompanying the person at the end of life and their loved ones: establishing a relationship of trust and supporting patients and their loved ones; Be proactive in your role and collaborate with your colleagues: participate in updating the PTI, ensure the communication of important information and discuss the condition of patients, in order to find alternative resources; Collaborating with the doctor during rounds: reporting explanations about the patient's condition and specifying the necessary adjustments; Participate in family meetings with the doctor and/or social worker; Perform all other tasks related to this position. In collaboration with the social worker, offer psychological support and provide information to promote informed decision-making; To integrate and collaborate with the team of volunteers in the care and support of patients. Experience and skills required: Be a member in good standing of the Order of Nurses of Quebec (OIIQ); Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Palliative Nursing Certificate, an asset; Minimum experience of two years as a nurse; Experience working with palliative care clients is an asset; ...
