Job description

Annual Salary: $200k-$350k (varies depending on years of experience)

We are seeking an experienced and integrative Functional Medicine Psychiatrist to join our client’s multidisciplinary team. This role blends traditional psychiatric expertise with a whole-person, root-cause–oriented approach to mental health. The ideal candidate is passionate about brain health, lifestyle medicine, and personalized treatment plans that address the biological, psychological, and environmental factors affecting each client’s wellbeing.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and evidence-based treatments grounded in both conventional psychiatry and functional medicine frameworks.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that may include psychotropic medications, targeted supplementation, lifestyle interventions, nutritional strategies, mind-body practices, and behavior change support.
  • Incorporate functional medicine principles such as gut–brain health, metabolic factors, inflammation, hormones, sleep, stress physiology, and environmental exposures into clinical decision-making.
  • Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests, including metabolic panels, micronutrient assessments, hormonal testing, inflammation markers, and specialty functional medicine labs, as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing medication management, psychotherapy (if applicable), and integrative treatment guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal team members including health coaches, nutritionists, integrative practitioners, therapists, and primary care providers.
  • Educate clients on brain health fundamentals, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, stress management, and preventive mental wellness.
  • Communicate complex concepts in accessible, empowering ways.
  • Support clients in long-term behavior change and self-management strategies.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and care coordination.
  • Work closely with allied practitioners to deliver cohesive, patient-centered care plans.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and integrative treatment pathways.
  • Ensure all care complies with federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards.
  • Follow ethical guidelines and practice standards for both psychiatry and functional medicine.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry (Adult or Child & Adolescent).
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience or strong interest in integrative or functional medicine principles.
  • Strong understanding of psychopharmacology, mental health disorders, and biopsychosocial models of care.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, patient-centered approach.
