Job description

Apple Valley News Now and Phase 3 Digital are proud members of the Morgan Murphy Media family—family-owned, people-first, and deeply committed to serving the communities we live in. In the Yakima/Tri-Cities market, we help local businesses grow with high-impact storytelling and performance-driven marketing across broadcast, streaming/CTV, web, and social.

About This Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced media sales leader to be based in our Yakima bureau office and help lead a high-performing local sales team. This role is for a modern seller–coach: someone who can grow revenue through great fundamentals (new business development, account strategy, inventory/rate management) and through today’s best practices (integrated TV + digital solutions, data-informed proposals, and measurable outcomes).

What You’ll Do
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a team of Account Executives focused on solution-selling and strong customer relationships.
  • Set clear expectations, drive activity, and build a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the General Sales Manager and other leaders to execute revenue strategy, forecasting, and go-to-market priorities.
  • Lead integrated sales planning across linear TV, streaming/CTV, O&O digital, and Phase 3 Digital services (including audience targeting and performance reporting).
  • Join sales calls and ride-alongs—teaching by doing and helping reps move opportunities forward.
  • Support inventory and pricing strategy with a disciplined approach to ratings, avails, pacing, and yield.
  • Identify new categories and key accounts, create a plan to win them, and help your team execute it.
What Success Looks Like
  • A motivated, well-coached team that consistently hits activity, pipeline, and revenue goals.
  • Growth in new local advertisers and deeper share of wallet with existing accounts.
  • More integrated proposals that connect brand storytelling with measurable digital performance.
  • Strong forecasting discipline and smart inventory management that protects rate integrity.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of success in media sales and/or digital marketing sales; leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience building multi-platform solutions (TV + streaming/CTV + digital) and communicating value clearly to local decision makers.
  • A coaching/teaching mindset—comfortable developing talent through consistent feedback and field work.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to manage accounts, pricing, and inventory/rate strategy.
  • Comfort with modern sales tools: CRM discipline, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
  • A collaborative, community-minded approach consistent with Morgan Murphy Media’s values.

Base salary: $65,000–$75,000 (plus bonus opportunities tied to achieving revenue goals).

In addition, we provide a $150/month cell phone/gas allowance and a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Medical, dental, vision, prescription, life, and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and flexible spending accounts
  • 401(k)
  • Work/life balance with vacation, sick, and personal days, plus nine paid holidays
Why This Role Is Exciting Right Now
  • You’ll sell the full modern toolkit—premium local video plus streaming/CTV and targeted digital—so clients can build brands and drive results.
  • You’ll be able to leverage premium sports partnerships in the market—including the Seattle Kraken and Seattle Mariners—as Apple Valley News Now is the official partner in the region.
  • You’ll lead in a market where community matters, and local businesses still rely on trusted local media to grow.
  • You’ll work for a family-owned company that invests for the long-term and recognizes performance.
