What is an integrated project manager?

An Integrated Project Manager is a professional responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of a project across different departments or functions within an organization. They ensure that project goals align with the company’s strategic objectives and that resources, timelines, and deliverables are managed efficiently. Integrated Project Managers facilitate communication between various teams, identify potential risks, and resolve issues to keep projects on track. Their role is crucial for delivering complex projects that require collaboration across multiple disciplines.

How does an integrated project manager typically coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success?

Integrated Project Managers frequently act as a central point of communication between various departments such as engineering, marketing, procurement, and finance. They facilitate regular meetings, set up shared project management tools, and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned on objectives, timelines, and deliverables. Successful coordination involves proactively identifying potential bottlenecks, resolving conflicts, and adapting plans as needed to keep the project on track. This collaborative approach helps ensure that complex projects move forward smoothly and that all team members are working toward common goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an integrated project manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Integrated Project Manager, you need a solid background in project management methodologies, cross-functional team leadership, and a relevant degree or PMP certification. Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project, Asana, or Jira, and experience integrating workflows and systems is important. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you align diverse teams and drive project objectives. These skills are essential for delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects on time and within scope while ensuring organizational alignment.

Job description

Welcome to CTI - where work meets play! Since 1988, Conference Technologies, Inc. has been a trusted leader in audio-visual, media, collaboration, and communication technology solutions. Our mission is simple: to provide a fantastic customer experience. We believe that happens when talented people are supported, challenged, and encouraged to bring their whole selves to work - Nerf battles, teamwork, problem-solving, and all.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Media Project Manager who takes full ownership of complex media integration projects and leads them with authority. From project handoff through closeout, you are accountable for scope, schedule, budget, and communication, keeping the work organized and the client confident that their media systems will perform when it matters. You bring a disciplined project mindset: you build a plan, anticipate issues before they land on the client's desk, and keep the team aligned and moving, all while protecting the customer experience that defines CTI.
This role is built for someone who understands the pace, precision, and deadlines that media environments demand and is comfortable being the person everyone looks to for clarity. You don't have to be the one pulling every cable, but you do need a strong grasp of how engineering, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, documentation, and support fit together so you can lead the work with confidence.
What are your responsibilities?
  • Be the client's steady point of contact: Provide clear project updates, communicate changes or risks early, and make sure clients feel informed and supported throughout the process.
  • Own the game plan: Manage Media integration projects from internal handoff through final closeout, keeping scope, schedule, budget, and customer expectations aligned.
  • Keep the team in sync: Coordinate internal resources including engineering, programming, rack build, installation, commissioning, procurement, and field teams so everyone knows what needs to happen and when.
  • Enforce the timeline: Track milestones, lead times, dependencies, site readiness, and project deadlines, so surprises are handled before they become fires.
  • Manage the details: Keep project documentation accurate and current, including drawings, bills of material, schedules, change orders, punch lists, closeout documents, and acceptance forms.
  • Own risk management: Identify project risks early (scope gaps, vendor delays, site constraints, technical dependencies), build mitigation plans, and confront adversity in a way that protects both the client experience and project results.
  • Ensure quality execution: Partner with technical teams to ensure systems are installed, configured, tested, commissioned, and turned over to meet CTI standards and client expectations.
  • Protect the numbers: Monitor project budgets, labor usage, margin, change orders, billing milestones, and overall project performance.
  • Lead through the finish line: Drive punch lists completion, customer acceptance, closeout documentation, and handoff to service/support teams when applicable.
Will you fit in?
  • You are organized enough to keep multiple moving pieces straight, but flexible enough to pivot when plans change.
  • You communicate early, clearly, and professionally with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • You can stay calm under pressure and help the team move from problem to solution.
  • You enjoy working with technical people and can translate details into action items, timelines, and next steps.
  • You take ownership of the customer experience and understand that delivering a project is more than just checking boxes.
  • You like being part of a collaborative team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun along the way.
Does experience count?
We absolutely value the experience, skill set, and attitude you bring to the table. An associate degree is preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in broadcast, commercial AV, live production, construction, technology integration, or a closely related environment.
  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with media systems, production environments, signal flow, IP-based video, control rooms, studios, streaming, recording, or related technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, scheduling, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to read and work from project documentation such as drawings, scopes of work, bills of material, schedules, and change orders.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools and project/business systems to track communication, documentation, schedules, costs, and project status.
  • PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, CSM, or other industry certifications are a plus, but not required.
What's in it for you?
We believe our company's success is directly connected to the success of our employees. That is why we encourage growth, support our teams, and offer a competitive compensation package that includes:
  • Salary Range: $80,000/yr to $120,000/yr
  • Employer-matched medical and dental insurance, available after 60 days of employment.
  • Employer-matched 401(k) up to 3% after 6 months of employment.
  • Bonus eligibility based on a results-oriented incentive plan after 3 months of employment.
  • Graduated PTO program, all major holidays off, and three floating holidays available upon your first day of employment.
  • Special gifts for significant life events, such as marriage, the birth of a child, and buying a house.
  • Cell phone reimbursement plan.
  • Long-Term and Short-Term Disability 100% paid by CTI.
  • Life Insurance 100% paid by CTI.
