CAPs Specialist - Mental Health Intake Specialist - RN

The CAPs Specialist provides crisis intervention and assessment to assist in determining the appropriate level of psychiatric care needed.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides crisis intervention via phone and face to face assessment.
  • Conducts assessments to determine most appropriate level of psychiatric care
  • Communicates with physicians, referral sources and other hospital staff in order to obtain care for patients.
  • Refers people to community mental health services as indicated following assessment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars/professional development as requested by manager
  • Adheres to the facilities Standards of Performance and ICARE values.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Behavioral Health or Emergency Department
