Insurance agents in the USA are licensed professionals who help individuals and businesses choose appropriate insurance policies, such as life, health, auto, or property insurance. They assess clients’ needs, explain policy options, and assist with claims and renewals. Agents can work independently, for insurance companies, or as brokers representing multiple insurers. Their main goal is to ensure clients have adequate coverage and understand their policy terms. They must comply with state regulations and often complete continuing education to maintain their licenses.

If you are a natural communicator who thrives on building carrier relationships, navigating complex appetites, and negotiating the best possible terms for clients, this is the perfect role for you. We need a "closer" who can pick up the phone, overcome roadblocks, and advocate effectively with underwriters.

  • Compensation: $75,000 – $100,000 Base + Sign-on Bonus
  • Bonus: $5,000 Guaranteed Year 1 Bonus (Minimum)

Why Choose Southern States Insurance?

Join an independent agency that values your experience, supports your development, and gives you the tools you need to thrive in your role.

  • Profit Sharing: Participate in a unique bonus plan based on the agency’s profit sharing with specific carriers (pro-rated for your first year).
  • Meaningful Work: You are the bridge between our clients and the coverage they need to succeed.
  • Growth & Development: Gain access to training and professional designations with full financial sponsorship.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the Placement Process: Secure policy quotes through online rating systems and direct underwriter submissions, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Negotiate with Persistence: Actively call underwriters to discuss risks, persuade them to move on pricing or terms, and refuse to give up when faced with roadblocks.
  • Master Carrier Appetites: Maintain a deep understanding of what various carriers will and won’t write to ensure strategic and efficient marketing.
  • Build Relationships: Cultivate strong, professional rapport with carrier representatives so that Southern States Insurance is always top-of-mind.
  • Manage Workflows: Navigate carrier systems and internal tools to track submissions and follow up on pending quotes.

Who You Are

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in Commercial Lines Insurance (Required).
  • Personality: A "people person" with exceptional communication skills and the ability to be highly persuasive on the phone.
  • Resilience: A self-starter who won't take "no" for an answer and will fight to find a home for a tough risk.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with various carrier online portals and rating software.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Time
  • Location: Fully Remote (USA)

What We Offer

  • Financial Security: 401(k) contribution and a lucrative profit-sharing bonus structure.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunity to work with a wide range of commercial accounts and carrier partners.
  • Time Off: Paid vacation, sick leave, and company holidays.
