Job description

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience performing or inspecting contractual services. Must be able to communicate effectively. Working knowledge of personal computers using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to prepare reports required.ย 

ย *Please make note if you do not have two years of experience in overseeing and/or inspecting contractual services you are not qualified for this position.

ย Additionally, you must have a valid Georgias Driver's License.

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS:ย 
The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job-related areas. ย These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interview and/or competency assessments.

SUMMARYย 
The Contract Services Inspector is responsible for inspecting work completed by outside contractors performing work such as trash and/or tree removal, landscape maintenance, facility upkeep and cleaning, etc. to ensure compliance with contract specifications and MARTA standards of performance. ย Position is currently assigned to two MARTA Offices. ย See Below: ย 

OFFICE OF FACILITIES:
Inspects, monitors, coordinates, and reviews all work completed by outside contracts (i.e., trash and/or tree removal, landscape maintenance, etc.) to ensure compliance with MARTA performance standards. Must be able to obtain a level 3 wayside certification badge within 60 days.

OFFICE OF PARKING FACILITY OPERATIONS:
Inspects, monitors, and reviews work completed by outside contractors responsible for performing work such as parking facility cleaning and maintaining, to ensure compliance with contract and MARTA standards of performance.

ย ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Inspects, monitors, and reviews work completed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with contract and MARTA standards of performance.
  2. Evaluates the performance of contractors and calculates deductions from the contractor's fee for poor or no performance. Processes pay applications for approval with proper documentation.ย 
  3. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports on the performance of contractors for review by supervisory staff. ย  Identifies current or potential problems with contractors and notifies management. Maintains up-to-date records on contractor's performance and notifies contractor in writing.
  4. Assists in the development of various contract specifications and outlines the scope of work.ย 
  5. Provides prospective contractors with site specific details and conducts site tours.ย 
  6. Attend pre-bid conferences.ย 
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.ย 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSย 
Must have a valid Georgia Driver's License to operate MARTA vehicles. Must be able to obtain a level 3 wayside certification badge within 60 days.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Must pass a physical examination including alcohol and drug screen.

  2. May be required to climb heights up to 40 feet using ladders for access to areas such as roofs.

  3. This position requires extensive walking.
