Regional Bond Manager - UW06DA

The Regional Surety Bond Underwriting Manager will have the opportunity to expand an existing book of business while leading an established underwriting team. You will supervise and perform all underwriting functions including marketing, financial & industry analysis and servicing your team's commercial surety portfolio.
Responsibilities:
• Lead production underwriter for the territory.
• Profit and loss responsibility for the book of business within the region.
• Supervises a regional team of underwriters, though remains accountable as the ultimate manager of the book of business.
• Sets the surety business plan for the region, in line with the Surety LOB strategy.
• Initiates marketing activities with agents, brokers, and customers.
• Recruits, hires, and develop underwriters within the territory, both experienced and trainees.
• Manages recommendations for surety programs.
• Prepares budgeting, business plans, and expense management.
• Monitors and manages the quality of the surety portfolio towards profitability.
Qualifications:
• 5 + years of Surety underwriting experience or similar credit oriented/ insurance lines experience required.
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
• High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
• Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes.
• Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win.
• Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
Travel Requirement: This role requires approximately 25% travel across the West territory to support broker engagement, marketing initiatives, and regional strategy execution.
Valid Driver's license as a company car may be provided.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office or on agency travel 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$156,000 - $234,000
