Promont Insurance Advisors is seeking a highly motivated, production-oriented Lead Underwriter to join and help scale its Allied Healthcare program. This individual will play

a critical role in driving new business, strengthening distribution relationships, and contributing to the continued success of a well-established and respected program in the market.

This is a true production and leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in the marketplace, enjoys building broker relationships, and wants to play a key role in shaping the growth strategy of a specialized program.


Program Overview:


The Allied Healthcare program is a long-standing, high-performing platform that has been in the market for over 15 years. Operating on an E&S basis with A+ rated carrier partners, the program has built a strong reputation across a dual distribution model (retail and wholesale) nationwide.

Promont offers a fully integrated platform with in-house claims capabilities and a collaborative team environment consisting of experienced underwriters and underwriting assistants. The program is well respected in the market for its underwriting discipline, service model, and ability to handle complex risks, positioning it for continued expansion.


Key Responsibilities:


In this role, the Lead Underwriter will be responsible for both production and portfolio management, with a strong emphasis on driving profitable growth.


Core responsibilities include evaluating, selecting, and pricing new and renewal business to develop and maintain a profitable book, while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and carrier expectations. The individual will analyze submissions in detail, including applications, loss history, and operational exposures.

A key focus will be on developing and maintaining strong distribution relationships, clearly communicating risk appetite, negotiating terms, and positioning Promont as a go-to market for Allied Healthcare risks.


The role will also partner closely with internal teams including claims, compliance, and operations to ensure a seamless underwriting lifecycle. Additionally, this individual will contribute to underwriting strategy, support team development, and help elevate overall program performance.


Requirements:
  • 10+ years of underwriting experience, with a focus on Allied Healthcare or related casualty lines
  • Strong emphasis and proven success in new business production
  • Established distribution relationships across retail and wholesale brokers
  • Experience underwriting Allied Healthcare risks and related professional liability exposures
  • Background in the E&S market with strong underwriting discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a leadership capacity (team lead, mentor, or formal management)
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on profitable growth
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
