At TelCom Construction, as an GIS Analyst, you'll be responsible for the maintenance and training of the Company's Geographic Information System. (GIS) capabilities. This role can be based in our Clearwater, MN, office.

What you'll do
  • Assist with designs, operation and maintenance of the Company's Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Ensures the GIS system is efficient and up to date. Evaluates and incorporates advances in technology and software accordingly.
  • Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping software.
  • Provides GIS technical assistance to all departments.
  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other data sources.
  • Converting physical maps into a digital form for computer usage.
  • Provides assistance and coordination of drafting, mapping, graphic illustrations and related report preparation for stakeholders.
  • Provides Company departmental GIS training as well as that for GIS operators.
  • Works with other departments to develop standards, protocols and conventions then reviews completed work to ensure compliance.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and automate spatial data transformation and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows using FME (Feature Manipulation Engine).
  • Utilize FME to manage, clean, and integrate diverse datasets (including spatial, non-spatial, and CAD formats), ensuring seamless data automation across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Analyst GIS: Associates degree specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using Safe Software's FME platform (such as FME Desktop and FME Server) for data mapping, workflow automation, and systems integration.
  • Proficient in ArcGIS or other equivalent GIS platform
  • Ability to read and interpret graphs, charts, diagrams, air photos and maps.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents and manuals as well as the ability to write such documents for use by others.
  • Proficient with digitizing, plotting and drafting techniques and procedures as well as data collection using GPS equipment.
  • Experience with basic GIS and Windows operations and internet mapping technology strongly preferred.
  • Effective, respectful and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Problem solver and critical thinker.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to maintain balance with multiple departmental demands.
  • Team oriented, keeping organizational success at the forefront.
  • Familiarity with Google-Based applications such as G-mail, Google Docs and Sheets is strongly preferred.
  • Requires regular use of a telephone, PC computer and Windows workstation/server, frequent use of GIS equipment such as printers, GPS systems and plotters as well as frequent use of GIS and CAD software.
  • Ability to travel throughout the TelCom footprint as needed (expected 10-20%).
