Position Description
Origis Energy is looking for an experienced Insurance Risk Manager to manage the organization's overall insurance and corporate risk management programs for solar & BESS development, construction and operations. The Insurance Risk Manager acts as internal subject matter expert and will provide solutions to grow the business to include analyzing insurance needs by identifying risk exposures and analyzing and classifying risks to provide optimum coverage, costs and claim settlements. The ideal candidate will be someone with commercial risk and insurance experience, with a solid background and foundation in the fundamentals of commercial property & casualty insurance and construction insurance; with renewable energy industry experience being a huge plus.
The Insurance Risk Manager reports to Chief Financial Officer and is a regular, full-time position, eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.
Key Responsibilities
  • Aid in the development of a clear risk philosophy balancing the necessary coverage required to meet the company's needs with overall cost effectiveness and risk appetite.
  • Manage the reporting, processing and adjustment of claims to include tracking, negotiating and resolution at the project and corporate levels including, but not limited to, All-Risk Property and Business Interruption, General and Umbrella/Excess Liability, Workers' Compensation and Employer's Liability, Automobile Liability, Directors & Officers, Cyber, Crime, etc.
  • Work with internal teams and stakeholders to provide coherent, accurate risk management and insurance advice and guide in implementing recommendations while demonstrating an executive presence with clients.
  • Maintain and review for accuracy insurance documentation: annual binder and policy documents, endorsements, invoices, renewals, cover letters and insurance program audits.
  • Complete, coordinate, and conduct policy renewal submissions and applications, manage mid-term adjustments to project and corporate insurance programs, and may administer self-insured plans.
  • Development of insurance budgets at the corporate and project levels.
  • Manage insurance brokers, insurers and stakeholder relationships to optimize cost and coverage to include onboarding of insurance carriers, brokers and establish NDAs as needed
  • Participate in due diligence on insurance and other risk management areas for M&A activity
  • Work with legal and procurement on insurance elements in customer and vendor contracts; develop insurance provision playbook and training for legal department.
  • Point of contact on all insurance matters ensuring insurance requirement compliance with Lenders' Financing and Equity Agreement requirements.
  • Overall management of property, liability, and financial lines insurance programs, including surety.
  • Prepare and present reports including proposals and presentations to management and development teams.
  • Support the Business in verifying counterparty compliance with contractual obligations relative to insurance

Preferred Qualifications
  • BS and/or BA, MBA preferred
  • Risk management designations from relevant industry educational institutions such as CPCU / ARM
  • Experience and understanding of the U.S. renewables and energy markets preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in progressive insurance / risk management roles (underwriting, risk management, brokerage, or related field)
  • In depth technical knowledge of insurance requirements in the renewable energy industry; preferably solar and battery storage, inclusive of project financing, is advantageous
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
