Job description

Position Summary
Rue Insurance’s Risk Management Associates are responsible for obtaining and retaining commercial property and casualty clients with average annual premium of $25,000 and above. They proactively engage with prospects and clients to develop relationships in order to promote profitable agency growth that consistently meets or exceeds annual sales goals. Quality of work must exemplify the best-in-class service standards established by Rue Insurance at all times.  
Key Responsibilities
  • Generate new business sales by proactively contacting prospects and following the agency sales process 
  • Maintain an active new business pipeline with multiple prospects in various pipeline stages; demonstrate measurable prospect movement along those stages; and accurately track activity within the agency management system  
  • Schedule and conduct appointments with prospects to deliver engaging, consultative sales presentations
  • Gather relevant business and underwriting information to provide proposals tailored to the specific needs of each client or prospect 
  • Provide informed advice and recommendations to clients and prospects to ensure appropriate coverage solutions that meet or exceed agency standards 
  • Build and maintain a strong referral network by developing relationships with centers of influence at other companies, peers, networking groups, clients, internal partners, and senior management 
  • Introduce clients to the full range of products and services offered by Rue Insurance and actively cross-sell clients and prospects to other departments as appropriate
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships through consistent execution of the agency’s formal client relationship program
  • Follow established agency renewal processes to support retention and growth of the existing book of business
  • Maintain awareness, learning and technical knowledge of insurance coverages, insurance industry changes, emerging risks and coverage solutions, competition, carriers and other areas of business acumen to effectively advise clients and prospects and limit the agency’s E&O exposure  
  • Adhere to agency documentation requirements and processes by accurately recording client and prospect information and interactions in the agency management system 
  • Deliver first-class customer service by communicating clearly and proactively with clients to continually set, meet, and exceed client expectations 
  • Incorporate and regularly practice techniques and strategies introduced through sales training to continuously enhance skills and related performance 
  • Identify and develop expertise in target industry niches by joining and participating in relevant associations and networking groups 
  • Actively participate in Sales, Department and Company meetings by sharing experiences, account knowledge and effective selling strategies
  • Develop, meet and exceed annual performance and sales goals 
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Agency Management

Work Schedule & Classification: Full-time, salaried (exempt) position 
Salary: $50,000 - $125,000 annually plus uncapped commission
Physical Requirements:  Must be capable of sitting for a long period of time, working on a computer, standing, and walking. Frequent lifting of up to 20lbs and occasional lifting of 26 to 50 lbs. required.  
Required Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of successful business-to-business consultative sales experience
  • Strong negotiation skills and attention to detail 
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Highly motivated and organized 
  • Energetic, dedicated team player 
  • Experience with CRM and sales management systems
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial insurance sales experience
  • Valid property & casualty insurance licenses
  • Knowledge of Applied Systems EPIC preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree
