Job description

Our client, a globally recognized name in commercial explosives and blasting technology with a footprint across several continents, is on the lookout for a Senior Manager Risk & Insurance to be based at their Salt Lake City headquarters.

The Role

Reporting into the Global VP of Risk and Insurance, this is a brand new corporate position created to strengthen the company's risk function. Sitting within the Americas leadership team in Salt Lake City, the chosen candidate will take ownership of enterprise risk management across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, while also playing an active part in the broader global risk program alongside colleagues at the corporate center overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out loss scenario and exposure analysis to shape both insurance decisions and risk mitigation planning
  • Pinpoint and keep watch over critical controls tied to material operational hazards within a high-hazard industrial setting
  • Construct and upkeep risk registers, dashboards, and reporting materials designed for senior leadership and governance bodies
  • Embed ISO 31000 methodology throughout business functions such as operations, supply chain, finance, legal, and HR
  • Forge strong relationships with Americas leadership and act as the connective tissue between the global corporate center and the regional team
  • Aid the global insurance program by working with U.S. brokers and insurers and carrying out exposure analysis
  • Run risk assessments and keep risk registers, dashboards, and reporting up to date for senior leadership

Requirements

  • Practical experience putting ISO 31000 or comparable ERM frameworks to work across a range of business functions
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or risk management, with a preference for technical disciplines
  • At least 10 years working in enterprise risk management or operational risk inside complex industrial environments
  • A demonstrated track record of influencing senior decision makers and thriving in a matrixed, multicultural setting
  • Availability for travel to operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, along with a yearly visit to Brisbane
  • Sector experience gained in nuclear, oil and gas, or mining
  • Certification in RIMS-CRMP, IRM, or PMI-RMP
  • Working knowledge of Spanish would be a welcome addition

Location:

  • A hybrid working pattern applies, with 3 days a week required in the office.
