To thrive as an Insurance Restoration Project Manager, you need a strong background in construction management, knowledge of insurance claims processes, and relevant certifications such as IICRC or OSHA. Familiarity with project management software, estimating tools like Xactimate, and building codes is typically required. Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate with clients, adjusters, and subcontractors. These abilities ensure projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and to the satisfaction of both clients and insurance providers.

What is an insurance restoration project manager?

Insurance Restoration Project Managers are professionals who oversee construction and repair projects that result from damage covered by insurance claims, such as those caused by fire, water, storms, or other disasters. They act as the main point of contact between property owners, insurance adjusters, and contractors, ensuring that restoration work meets industry standards and is completed on time and within budget. Their responsibilities include assessing damage, estimating costs, coordinating teams, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Ultimately, they help property owners restore their homes or businesses after an insured loss.

What are some common challenges faced by an insurance restoration project manager during the claims process?

Insurance Restoration Project Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including insurance adjusters, property owners, and subcontractors, to ensure everyone is aligned on project scope and timelines. Another frequent challenge is navigating unexpected delays or changes in project plans due to additional damage discovered during restoration or fluctuations in material availability. Clear communication, detailed documentation, and flexibility are essential for overcoming these obstacles and maintaining positive client relationships throughout the restoration process.

Job description

Restoration Project Manager

East End Flood & Fire Restoration, LLC โ€” East Hampton, NY

About us

East End Flood & Fire Restoration is a flood, fire, and mold restoration contractor serving Long Island's East End and the Hamptons. We handle water, fire, and mold losses from emergency response through completion, on both private-pay and insurance claims, and we hold our work to IICRC standards and full New York State regulatory compliance.

The role

We're hiring a Restoration Project Manager to own mitigation projects end-to-end โ€” water, fire, and mold โ€” from the first site visit through drying, documentation, and closeout. You'll run crews and subcontractors, keep jobs on scope and on schedule, and be the point of contact for homeowners, property managers, and insurance adjusters. This is a field-and-office hybrid role for someone who knows restoration cold and can document a job well enough to survive a carrier review.

What you'll do
  • Respond to and scope water, fire, and mold losses; categorize and class per IICRC S-500 / S-520
  • Build and run the drying plan โ€” moisture mapping, psychrometric readings, equipment sizing and placement, daily monitoring
  • Coordinate in-house crews and specialty subcontractors; schedule labor, equipment, and materials
  • Own job documentation: photos, moisture logs, scope notes, and compliance paperwork to insurance/TPA standards
  • Communicate with customers and adjusters throughout โ€” set expectations and keep the claim moving
  • Support estimating and supplements in Xactimate (RFIs, ACV/RCV, O&P, price-list codes)
  • Ensure containment, PPE, and safety meet NYS Article 32, IICRC S-520, and OSHA requirements
  • Manage budget, timeline, and quality through final closeout and payment collection
Required
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in water/fire/mold mitigation, including running insurance or TPA jobs
  • Active IICRC WRT certification (WRT + FSRT strongly preferred)
  • Licensed NYS Mold Abatement Supervisor
  • Proficiency with job documentation and restoration/estimating software (Xactimate a major plus)
  • Comfortable with field work โ€” ladders, confined spaces, lifting 50+ lbs
  • Valid NY driver's license and clean driving record
  • Strong communication; able to stay calm with stressed homeowners and demanding adjusters
  • Availability for extended and emergency hours
Preferred
  • AMRT and/or FSRT certification
  • Xactimate Level 1โ€“3 certification
  • Familiarity with NYS Article 32 mold licensing and lead-RRP / asbestos protocols
  • Located between Westhampton to Montauk, NY
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) for crew coordination
Compensation & benefits
  • $80,000 base, depending on experience and certifications
  • Company Vehicle
  • Performance bonus tied to job margin / volume
  • Health Insurance
To apply
  • Send your resume and a short note about the kinds of losses you've managed to info@eastendfloodfire.com or call (631) 620-2578.
