Kirtland Credit Union is seeking a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) and lead cross-functional initiatives that support strategic organizational goals. This role partners closely with executive sponsors, business leaders, and external vendors to plan, execute, and deliver complex projects on time, within scope, and on budget.

Level placement (Senior Project Manager or Project Manager) will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, scope of prior project leadership, and demonstrated ability to manage complexity, risk, and enterprise-wide impact.

This position has hybrid/remote opportunity with preference for candidate in the Albuquerque to attend required on-site meetings.

Project Manager:

Minimum 3+ years of project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a matrix environment.

Senior Project Manager:

Minimum 5+ years of progressive project management experience, including enterprise-level, high-complexity initiatives and experience working closely with senior leadership.

This is what we would like you to do:

The Senior Project Manager/Project Manager is responsible for working with the PMO to plan, manage, and execute diverse, Enterprise and complex projects across the Credit Union’s business units. This role will interface with internal leaders and managers and external vendors while managing internal diverse project teams with an impeccable service attitude. The ideal candidate will help facilitate a collaborative environment and keep close communication with all internal project teams and stakeholders, attend standups and project meetings as required, and maintain scope, schedule, and quality to ensure deliverables exceed expectations, mentor less-senior personnel, identify training needs and conduct training, and perform project reviews in the spirit of continuous improvement

Primary Job Duties:

  • Lead teams of professionals in completing projects by a set deadline to uphold business initiatives.
  • Work with executive project sponsors and project owners to gather and formalize information on potential projects including scope, business case, required resources, key stakeholders, project risks, and approved budget.
  • Work and provide directions to project owners, and their teams.
  • Coordinate and build efficient project plans that include schedule baseline, scope baseline, resource requierments, budget, risk management and communication management.
  • Identify, track, manage, and report on project risks, dependencies and devise contingency plans as needed.
  • Track project milestones and inform sponsor(s) of needed changes, and provide communication reports to the AVP PMO.
  • Document project information including project charter, project plan, lessons learned, agendas and meeting notes.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to identify areas of improvement for better project management performance in the future.
  • Ensure optimal project management performance.
  • Create long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
  • Delegate tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them.
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
  • Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure product delivery to the client and exceed expectations.
  • Remain cognizant of current projects, maintains effective time management skills on a daily basis, ensure all statuses are up to date, and ensure communication is made to the appropriate personnel.
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) preferred.

Experience Required For Sr. Project Manager:

  • Minimum of Five years working in project management.
  • Experience running complex, enterprise, cross-functional, level complex projects.
  • Experience managing in a matrix environment.
  • Experience in working closely with senior management.

Experience Required For Project Manager:

  • Minimum of three years working in project manager.
  • Experience running complex, enterprise, cross-functional, projects.
  • Experience managing in a matrix environment.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of project management processes through Project.
  • Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), PMI or other recognized sources.
  • Strong familiarity with project management systems/tools/technologies and Microsoft Office Knowledge of resource management tools.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others outside of direct reporting relationships.
  • Ability to multitask and mange competing priorities.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication with technical and business stakeholders, both written and verbal.
